Biography

Dr. Luis Cumbal studied Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the Army, Quito, Ecuador. He earned his Ph.D. at Lehigh University, Bethlenhem, Pennsylvania, United States. His research is oriented to the development of physical-chemical processes, nanostructured materials and nanotechnological applications for the treatment of water and wastewater and the remediation of contaminated soils. Currently, he is the Director of the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CENCINAT) and performs teaching duties as a professor in the Departments of Life Sciences and Energy and Mechanics, both at the University of the Armed Forces-ESPE.
